Victory Junction Campaign

Victory Junction 2010The 2010 Victory Junction campaign is currently underway. It will end, the last day of March. Currently Hess Mart is in the lead raising more than $16,000 for Victory Junction. If a c-store is still interested in participating, please call SCACS directly and immediately.

SCACS partnered with Coca-Cola in 2009 to raise money for Victory Junction Camp, a place for disabled and chronically ill children and their families to enjoy an exciting and safe camp experience, at no cost. Due to an overwhelming response by our members, SCACS was able to raise an incredible $31,000 for Victory Junction Camp! Kyle Petty, founder of Victory Junction Camp, remarked about the partnership, “I want to thank you guys, the South Carolina Association of Convenience Stores and Coca-Cola for partnering up in the 2009 initiative, because it takes partnerships to make this thing work...It takes donations, it takes the kids, but it takes people like you to embrace the camp and want to do something special in someone else’s life. Coca-Cola has always been a huge part of that.”

Presenting a check to Victory CampThis past May, SCACS President David Jordan (R.L. Jordan Oil) and Franky Campbell (Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated) presented the check to Kyle Petty along with SCACS Executive Director Leigh Faircloth at Coca-Cola Headquarters in Charlotte. The official presentation was made in the VIP tent at the 2009 Coca-Cola 600, where the top winner of the campaign was recognized for their efforts in selling all of those paper balloons (see winners below). Thanks to all of our retailers who participated in the campaign and also to Coca-Cola for its continued support and partnership with SCACS. This campaign was truly a team effort of SCACS members and their employees, and the real winners are the children that will be forever changed by their experiences at Victory Junction Camp.

Lekeshia Franklin, Development Coordinator for Victory Junction Camp, attended the SCACS 2009 Planning Meeting to kick off the 2010 campaign and to present a special gift to Brad Poe of Blue Water Convenience Stores, the top winning store in the 2009 campaign. Poe received a Nascar Box Car Collector’s case autographed by Kyle Petty.

Franklin remarked, “This summer’s theme was ‘Smile Out Loud – Where happiness is measured in smiles per hour.’ Since opening our doors in 2004, we have been able to make over 12,000 campers smile. This is made possible by individuals and businesses like SCACS who raise money to send campers to camp. For this, we at Victory Junction are grateful. Welcome to the family.”

Due to the overwhelming success of the Victory Junction Campaign this year, SCACS is pleased to announce that the campaign will continue in 2010! Our goal for 2010 is to double the $31,000 raised this year. We know that with everyone’s participation, we can do it! For more information on how to get involved in the campaign, call SCACS Headquarters at 803-419-0804.
